Abortion Abolition Ministry

Roe is over. It’s time for the Christian Church to pursue an end to child sacrifice. The Abolition Ministry is a Unity Baptist Church ministry pursuing the abolition of abortion in Georgia through a multi-faceted approach.

The name is derived from the Greek word "mach-et-tes," a warrior. Today, we hear a lot about the so-called "social justice" warriors who fight the ills of the world. Yet, their methods are often questionable if not directly anti-scriptural. A biblical approach is how our Puritan forefathers fought and won our freedoms. Theologian Dr. Joseph Boot explains,

It is only regenerate men and women who truly know the meaning of justice, and are able to lead the way on the path of righteousness in our world. Justice is only done when God's law is obeyed because justice is the restoration of God's order and righteousness is obedience to His word. Thus, for justice to be done in society requires the diffusing of the gospel and regenerate men and women engaged in every area of life and thought from biblical principles, for the glory of God.

Scriptural Background

The Lord God is the dread warrior of the Old Testament destroying His enemies like clay pots under the impact of His iron scepter. In the New Testament, the Lord God has knighted the courageous men of His church to vanquish darkness with the double-edged blade of His Word.

The Lord is with me as a dread warrior (makhētḗs); therefore my persecutors will stumble; they will not overcome me. They will be greatly shamed, for they will not succeed. Their eternal dishonor will never be forgotten. Jeremiah 20:11

Take the helmet of salvation and the sword (mákhaira) of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Ephesians 6:17

Hasten and come, all you surrounding nations, and gather yourselves there. Bring down your warriors, O Lord. Joel 3:11

You will break them with an iron scepter. You will shatter them like pottery. Psalm 2:9

  • Aren't women the only people that can effectively talk about abortion?
You do not need to experience rape to argue that rape is wrong. This is simply an attempt to steer the conversation away from the horror of abortion by focusing on you rather than the crime.* *“10 Pro-Life Arguments Against Abortion - End Abortion Now.”
  • What would the law do?
The law would equate current legal penalties against the murder of a born child to an unborn child. If we truly believe that an unborn person is made in the image of God, then we need to be consistent with the God’s Word and the Constitution*. No person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property except by due process of law. Georgia Constitution Art. I, § I, Para. I. Protection to person and property is the paramount duty of government and shall be impartial and complete. No person shall be denied the equal protection of the laws. Georgia Constitution Art. I, § I, Para. II. No state shall deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws. U.S. Constitution, 14th Amendment. So, whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets. Matthew 7:12. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Mark 12:31. You shall not be partial in judgment. Deuteronomy 1:17. *“Foundation to Abolish Abortion: Georgia 2023 HB 496,” Foundation to Abolish Abortion, accessed February 21, 2024, https://faa.life/georgia-2023-hb496.
  • What about contraceptives
An equal protection bill does not ban contraceptives (i.e. drugs or devices to prevent fertilization). Instead, abortifacients are banned when used to knowingly and willfully cause the death of the child.* *"Foundation to Abolish Abortion: Georgia 2023 HB 496.”
  • What about ectopic pregnancies?
The National Health Service webpage dedicated to ectopic pregnancy information states, “The baby cannot be saved in an ectopic pregnancy.” Almost all medical groups and government medical bureaucracies echo this malicious falsehood. The medical literature confirms that misdiagnosing ectopic pregnancy is quite common, and even if the diagnosis is accurate, there is much evidence that the tubal-implanted embryo can naturally detach and reattach in a safer location. For example, a 1982 article by Dr. J. F. Clark entitled “Embryo Transfer In Vivo” demonstrated that, in a tubal pregnancy, the rupture of the fallopian tube does not kill the preborn child. In many cases, the child will detach from the ruptured tube on his own and reattach on another surface in the pelvis or abdominal cavity. This has made it possible for a significant number of tubal pregnancies to result in live births.* *2016 Winter | Dr Patrick Johnston, “Does an Ectopic Pregnancy Justify Intentionally Killing the Baby?,” Celebrate Life Magazine (blog), February 10, 2016, https://clmagazine.org/topic/medicine-science/does-an-ectopic-pregnancy-justify-intentionally-killing-the-baby/.
  • What is "equal protection"?
Today there is a bill stalled out in our Georgia legislation which would properly categorize abortion under existing homicide laws. It would give the same rights you receive as a born person to your unborn neighbor*. * “Georgia General Assembly - HB 496,” accessed February 21, 2024, https://www.legis.ga.gov/legislation/64602.
  • What about cases of rape and incest?
The vast majority of abortions are voluntary, with less than 3% due to rape and incest. Thus, asking about rape and incest forces us to confront the reality that we object to violating another person’s body. Violating the body of another is exactly what happens during an abortion and no child should be killed for the crime of the father.* *“10 Pro-Life Arguments Against Abortion - End Abortion Now,” June 10, 2020, https://endabortionnow.com/10-answers-to-common-pro-choice-objections/.
  • What about "my body, my choice"?
It should go without saying that the body inside of the woman’s body is not her body. If abortion was about the mother’s body, then she would be the one that dies and not the baby!* *“10 Pro-Life Arguments Against Abortion - End Abortion Now.”
  • Isn't a fetus only a cluster of cells?
All human life is made up clumps of cells. Interestingly, the Latin word "fetus" means "little one," referring to the relatively small size of the preborn baby. So, a baby is still a baby regardless of what we call them. It is biologically indisputable that a unique human life exists from the moment of fertilization.* *“10 Pro-Life Arguments Against Abortion - End Abortion Now.”
  • What about the quality of life of the mother or child? Or poverty situations?
Abortion advocates often appeal to dire situations to make their case in order to tug at the heart. Oddly enough, most of us would laugh at the absurdity of this kind of argument in any other case. Should mothers and fathers be allowed to simply kill their children if times are tough?* *“10 Pro-Life Arguments Against Abortion - End Abortion Now.”
  • What about women who have had miscarriages?
An equal protection bill does not apply to accidental or natural deaths. Existing Georgia law also already has a provision that would prevent prosecution of miscarriages (16-2-2 (“Effect of misfortune or accident on guilt”)).* *“Foundation to Abolish Abortion: Georgia 2023 HB 496.”
  • Does the bill criminalize women?
No. The bill criminalizes the act of anyone knowingly and willfully engaging in prenatal homicide.* *“Foundation to Abolish Abortion: Georgia 2023 HB 496.”
